Post 8 > English Language Challenges

Hi everyone,

Well, I think that these English subjects I have taken at university have helped me a lot to improve. Although at high school I also learned English, now at the university I developed better reading and listening comprehension, I also use words and expressions better in a conversation. My pronunciation also improves a lot thanks to the activities we develop, especially the videos.

By writing blogs weekly I have been able to improve my writing, initially it was difficult for me to write thing on my own in English, because I wasn’t sure if the words and organization were the right ones, but this activity made me accustomed and now I can write more safely in English.

I think that due to the pandemic and the fact that we couldn’t have face-to-face classes, I wasn’t able to develop as much spontaneously speaking in English, my pronunciation and writing improved, but I still find it difficult to speak, I lose concentration and I can’t speak fluently. The presence would have helped me with that, and I think this is the aspect that for the moment I must improve, I could practice with someone who speaks English or with myself out loud to get used to and improve my fluency.

These days I haven’t used much English outside class, only when I read or hear something I can understand it, but I don’t speak or practice it because no one else in my immediate environment speaks English, in addition, the time I have out of class is dedicated to work in other subjects.

Post 7 >> Changes to my Study Programme

Hello classmates,

As I mentioned in previous blogs, I’m studying architecture, regarding my study programme I think I would modify it.

As for my subjects, I would not modify them, but I think that due to the pandemic I haven’t been able to learn correctly, it takes practice to better understand some subjects.

I would like the workload and duration of studies to be better organized, I don't like that exactly the last week of each semester all evaluations accumulate, I know all branches must have a final evaluation, but I think it would be better if at least these were distributed in 2 weeks to avoid so much stress.

The infrastructure of the faculty is nice, but I think some classrooms should be modified according to who is going to occupy them, for example, workshops subjects need a larger space to work, but there aren’t enough classrooms, so it would be necessary to expand some or add other facilities, in addition, I would like to expand doors and windows.

Regarding the use of technology, it has seemed quite advanced to me, perhaps because the pandemic has forced us to use it more, but I would like its use not to decrease too much when we return to presence.

Discarding some specific cases, I think that the career has a good teaching method, but it’s definitely much better in person, more is learned through better communication between teachers and students.

Post 6 > Time travel to the Future

Hello again,

I've always been curious about what the world would be like in the future, how things would change physically and how will people think, if everything really would be better, or something important would happen that would make everything worse. If I’d to choose a time in the future to visit, maybe it would be the year 3000, I wouldn’t choose previous centuries because I’d like to see more radical changes in the world and I think that the next millennium is far enough away to see important changes in evolution, and surprising from a technological point of view in my opinion.

I’d very much like to learn from that time if I could visit it, but I wouldn’t stay forever, because in the present time I’ve much to lose and miss, and I also don't think I can adapt so easily to a time that is probably very different, not only for the environment but also for the people, maybe they’ve rules or ways of thinking that I don’t like. Even so, in case everything was very beautiful and great in those years, I prefer not to rush anything, regardless of whether this isn’t the best time that will exist, I want to live it as I should, whatever awaits me in it. I prefer to keep the natural order of things, after all, at this time I was born and grew up, and I want to see the world evolve step by step.

Post 5 >> My Future Job

 Hi everyone,

In the future obviously I imagine myself working in something related to architecture, I intend to work immediately after graduating. I don’t know where specifically, I think the city doesn’t bother me so much to begin with, but I’d like it to be for a company that is related to the creation of large and sustainable spaces, I’d also like it to be able to work both outdoors and indoors, as for outdoor work, I imagine being able to explore, analyze and record; and indoors, any technological and graphic work, where I can design or contribute with ideas.

Since I love to travel, I hope that my future job involves visiting other countries, I’d really like a job where I have to be in countries for certain periods of time, then I’d have enough time to get to know the places I visit. And to at least tour a little the places you visit. As for the salary, I definitely intend to earn well, enough to live comfortably, not with great luxuries, but that I lack nothing.

Next year I intend to study some specialty related to sustainability, landscaping or technology. The main reason is because sustainability and technology I think are aspects of architecture that are increasingly required, and landscaping is because I’m very interested in working from the territory and learning to understand it.

Post 4 >> Your Bucket List

Hello classmates,

I have always thought of many things that I would like to do in the future, but I had never thought of making a list. Since I was little, I have wanted to travel to many countries, although every day that passes, I want to visit more of them, so I think what I really want is to go all over the world, I’d like to learn about other cultures and be able to visit places that I’ve only seen in photographs.

I am an only child and only live with my mother, so I would love to share with her each of my achievements, I want to take her everywhere with me, and give her everything necessary to make her happy. I also have 5 cats; I would love to be able to earn enough money to give them many comforts once I work.

Although currently, my closest goal is to be able to get my degree and work in a place whit a pleasant working environment and I earn well for my work, although I don’t care where I work initially, I would like to learn other languages that allow me to also work abroad, I think that getting that my job opportunities will be even better and it would not be so difficult to fulfill my entire bucket list.

 

Post 3 "My favorite Movie"

Hi everyone,

I had never thought about my favorite movie, actually I like many, but if I had to decide for one right now, I think “Kill Bill” is my favorite, I never get bored of watching it, and I always pay the same attention to it as the first time I watched it. I like the plot of the film, I find its story very catchy, and I love how the actions develop.

I have very varied tastes in terms of film genres, I like to watch everything, I love children's movies, also comedies, dramas, action, terror, fantasy, mystery, etc. I think that films related to the psychological are the ones I watch the most, I like not knowing what is going to happen, or what things are true or false. I like concentrate on details in this type of movies.

Recently I watched "Shutter Island", actually I had watched it before, but I watched it again because I love it, is one of the movies that has made me think the most, I highly recommend it. It’s classified with the genres of; psychological thriller, mystery, suspense, horror, drama and neo-noir. In addition, it stars Leonardo DiCaprio, I like how he acts, especially in this movie.

Post 2 >> The best Holidays

Hi classmates, 

My best holidays ever, was in 2017, it was for the study tour of my school and lasted one week. My class travels with 2 teachers, we went around many places in southern Chile, I remember Valdivia, Puerto Varas, and also Bariloche, a city in Argentina. 

We visited more places but stayed longer in Bariloche, there we do many recreational activities such as; chairlift ride, paintball, horse ride and team competitions with other schools, we also skated on ice and walker outdoors. What I liked the most about the city was Chocolate Factory, I remember that I bought many boxes to eat. 

In the South we made many stops to rest and eat, we visited parks, thermal springs and went on boat, it was very fun.

It was my best holidays because I had never seen so many different places, and many of things we did were new to me. I had a lot of fun and bought a lot of souvenirs. I would like to make a trip like that again.
